AKG Acoustics Microphone C 3000B User Manual

C 3000B
Condenser Microphone
Description
Despite its physical resemblance to its predecessor Model
C 3000, the C 3000 B is an entirely new microphone. It has a 1”
(25mm) large capsule, with an active gold-sputtered mylar foil
diaphragm. This size helps shape response with the warmth
and transparency that are typical of other high-quality AKG
models. Its design provides a very low self noise floor of 14-dB-A,
along with a maximum level capability of 140 dB, producing an
overall operating range in the studio of 126 dB. Through the 10-
dB pre-attenuation switch the operating range of the
microphone may be shifted up to 150 dB for close-in pickup of
very loud sound sources. A bass cut switch provides a gentle
6-dB per octave roll-off below 500 Hz, compensating for
proximity effect in vocal recording. The capsule assembly is
internally shock mounted for low handling noise, and an internal
foam sheath minimizes breath noises and pops with minimal
attenuation of high frequencies.
Tailored for the modern studio, the C 3000 B has the typical
AKG large diaphragm “signature contour,” a slight dip at 2.5 kHz
followed by a rise at 5 - 6 kHz and 9 - 11 kHz. Its cardioid
pickup pattern is extremely well controlled, providing excellent
off-axis rejection across the entire frequency band.
The H 100 elastic suspension mounting is an included
accessory with the C 3000 B. Optional accessories include the
B 18 battery power supply, and the W 414 wind screen, The
microphone is transformerless and accepts phantom powering
over the range from 9 volts to 52 volts dc. The C 3000 B is
equally at home on-stage as it is in the studio.
